Last Friday, fifty students participating in the Young Ambassador 2010 program sent their first letters off to their friends in Iraq through special gmail accounts they will be sharing for the project. For the past seven weeks, the students attending ARTech charter school in Northfield, MN, have been studying Iraqi culture in their classrooms. Now they are ready to begin learning directly from Iraqi kids through this unique online teaching and learning exchange.
The fifty Iraqi students live in Suleimanya, in northern Iraq, and are served by Bustan Media group for children; the CCC/War Kids Relief partner charity that participated in the Young Ambassador 2009 pilot program.
The Northfield students are anxiously awaiting their first round of responses as communication ramps up in the 13-week program.
